- 備中国青江派は、平安末期承安頃の安次を祖として始まると伝え、以後南北朝時代に至るまで、多くの名工を輩出した。その作風は、いわゆる縮緬状の肌合となり、地班の交じるものが多く、刃文は直刃調の穏やかなものや小乱れを交えるもの、逆丁子華やかなものなどがありる。この刀は、身幅広く、先反りつき、中鋒延びる南北朝時代の姿で、杢目肌よく交じる板目肌がつみ、地沸微塵に厚くつき、地景よく入り、乱れ映り立つ美しい地鉄に、直刃調に、小乱れ小互の目交じり、逆掛かった足を交え、湯走り掛り、小沸よく付き、匂口明るい、頗る健全な名刀である。本田忠勝佩刀と伝え、重美の認定は細川家16代当主細川譲立の名義となる。Bicchunokuni Aoe school is said to have originated with Yasutsugu around the Jouan era (late Heian period) and produced numerous master swordsmiths up through the Nanbokucho period. The surface texture is characterized by a so called Chirimen-style appearance, Oftenw with Mixed Jifu, Hamon is Suguha-style and mixed Small-Midare, Gorgeouse Sakachouji too.
This sword has wide Mihaba, Sakizori-tsuki, Chu-Kissaki extended appearance from the Nanbokucho period, Mixed Itamehada-tsumi, Mokumehada entered frequently. Jinie entered fine and thick, Chikei entered frequently, Midare-Utsuritatsu with beautiful Jigane, Suguha-style, Small-Midare and Mixed Small-Gunome, Mixed Sakagakatta-Ashi, Yubashiri-kakari, Small-Nie entered well, Nioikuchi is bright, Extremely Kenzen an excellent sword. It is said to be a sword once worn by Honda Tadakatsu, and its certification as Juyo Bijutsuhin was issued in the name of Hosokawa Moritatsu, the 16th head of the Hosokawa family.
